Mark Making

What is Mark Making? Words we use often might be draw, doodle, sketch, scribble. This class is an invitation to soften your expectations, and practice meeting your Creative Self with patience and curiosity. Bernadette will use techniques from mindfulness meditation to explore our senses and inner conversation as we make marks. We will learn that each mark can be a valuable layer to our creative practice. These techniques will encourage us to keep art making accessible, give our Creative Self permission to make mistakes and get messy, and is an easy warm up for tackling bigger projects.

Optional Materials: Black and gray mark making tools such as ink pens, pencils, graphite, colored pencils, watercolors, crayons, China markers, charcoal, pastels, Any type of paper such as sketchbooks, envelopes, poster board, scrap paper

Junk Journaling

A junk journal is a one-stop-shop for creative practice! In junk journaling, anything goes. A junk journal is a place to capture your ideas, and to value what inspires you. You will get to play with color, perspective, and mark making. Using a junk journal is a playful and accessible way to get to know your Creative Self. This class will focus on choosing the right book and prepping book pages, collecting and creating collage papers, and adding layers of collage and paint to our journals.
